Daniel Mieritz is a graduate student from the lab of Don Seo. Daniel's research focuses on synthesis and construction of zirconium-doped titanium dioxide electrodes. "My research project comes into the big picture of the Bisfuel Center where I am making a transparent mesoporous electrode that provide energy high enough to reduce protons into hydrogen".

Shibom Basu, Bisfuel graduate student (laboratory of Petra Fromme) is working on Subtask 2 projects (Water oxidation catalysts). "My research project is about femtosecond nanocrystallography... Our goal is to make a molecular movie to see all intermediates of the water oxidation process... If we can understand the mechanism of natural Photosystem II catalyst then we probably will be able to biomimic the whole thing...".

Dr. Anne Jones is a Principal Investigator in the Center of Bio-Inspired Solar Fuel production at Arizona State University. Her lab is involved in Subtasks 1 (Total systems analysis, assembly and testing) and Subtask 3 (Fuel production complex) of the Center. Major research efforts are directed towards developing artificial, hydrogen-producing catalysts and functionally connecting them to electrode surfaces.

Kevin Redding, Associate Director of the Bisfuel Center, presented a lecture "Alternative Energy Supply Responding to Global Challenges" during the Indonesian-American Kavli Frontiers of Science symposium on July 9-11, Bogor, Indonesia. Photosynthetic reaction centers (RCs) are one of life’s most ancient and most useful devices, allowing the biosphere to exploit the abundant solar energy continuously striking our planet and to diversify into a huge number of species with distinct bioenergetic strategies.

Professor Thomas Moore has been named the ASU Regents Professor in 2011. In the Bisfuel Center he leads a group of researchers working on Subtask 1 with the goal to combine the subsystems of the bio-inspired solar fuel cell into an efficient, functional unit in the face of thermodynamic and kinetic constraints and emergent phenomena.
